Keywords:

The aim is to investigate the outcome of patients with neuroсompressive pain syndromes. There were analyzed close (1st and 3rd day) and long term (6 months) outcomes in 30 patients with nerve compression pain syndromes (Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics of SI “Ukrainian State Research Institute of Medical and Social Problems of Disability of Ministry of Public Health of Ukraine”). Participants were divided into two groups. The first (primary) group consisted of patients, undergoing the treatment course (NSAIDs, muscle relaxants, B-vitamins, exercise and physical therapy etc.) using the method of selective block of the affected nerve root under X-ray control (30 cases). The second (control) group consisted of patients undergoing standard conservative treatment (30 patients). Before treatment all patients underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Treatment of the two groups of patients was evaluated by a modified Nurick Scale (NS) in 1, 3 day, and 6 months after manipulation. 1 day after manipulation, 93 % of the first group patients corresponded to level 1 according to NS, and 7 % – to level 2. The second group: level 1 – 33 %, level 2 – 67 % . 3 days after manipulation, 87 % of the first group patients corresponded to level 1 according to NS, and 13 % – to level 2. The second group: level 1 – 40 %, level 2 – 60 %. Analysing the outcomes of two groups in 6 months after manipulation, it suggests the condition improvement in 87 % of group I patients and 80 % of group II patients to the first and second levels according NS. No changes after treatment were observed in 7 % of the first group patients, and in 7 % of the second group patients. Deterioration was observed in 6 % of patients in group I and 13 % of patients in group II.
