Abstract

The impact ana lysis of latencies and amplitudes of P300 auditory cognitive evoked potentials has been performed in patients with recurrent low back pain before and after a course of manipulative therapy. It's been found that the recurrent low back pain leads to the slowdown of cognitive processes and the reducing the amount of working memory in young and middle-aged patients as well as reflects the increase of latencies and decrease of amplitudes of P300 auditory cognitive evoked potentials. Mani pulative therapy included in management programme led not only to a significant decrease in pain intensity by reduction of musculoskeletal biomechanical dysfunction, but also to quantitative changes of EEG parameters (a significant increase in the alpha-rhythm index and its maximum amplitude), and proper zonality of rhythms in the spectrogram. All this significantly increased the functional activity of prefrontal cortex improving focused attention, decision-making and increasing the amount of working memory.
